Essay

The thesis comprehensively describes far right political parties in the European countries. The concepts and categories, used to label this group of political parties, are characterized and pertinence of the term "far right" is justified. The history of far right political parties in Germany, Austria, France, Sweden and Hungary is presented. Two groups of factors that contribute to radicalization of electoral preferences and growth of extreme right support are identified. For the first time in Ukrainian political science, the essence of far right political parties is presented with regard to its ideological and electoral dimensions. The peculiarities of far right ideology are characterized and views on domestic policy, economy, social relations, foreign policy and European integration are highlighted. It is emphasized that the cornerstone of far right ideology is the people, whose interests should serve as a basis for decision-making in all spheres of public life. The current state of far right political parties in several European countries is characterized in terms of their electoral success. The problems and prospects of further development of far right in these European countries are determined. The peculiarities of development of pan-European transnational far right political party and political group in the European Parliament are described. Far right political parties in contemporary Ukraine are characterized. Two stages of their history are identified and each is described in details. The ideology and electoral successes of the Ukrainian National Assembly, the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda", the Right Sector and UNA-UNSO are presented. Two main ways of obtaining electoral popularity and recognition by Ukrainian far right parties - street activities and lawmaking - are outlined.
