Essay

The doctoral dissertation is the pilot research that describes the typology of semantic-syntactic dependencies in various structures of sentences in the modern Ukrainian literary language. A sentence holds a unique and important position in the system of syntactic units. It arranges and structures syntactic units of lower rank (syntaxemes, word combinations). The focus on formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactic aspects of a sentence enabled to distinguish the syntactic dependency in its structure and to differentiate it in relation to sentence types as follows: formal-syntactic and semantic-syntactic dependencies. The semantic-syntactic structure of a sentence is targeted at expressing and conveying semantic ties, thеy are semantic-syntactic dependencies that compose the semantic type of a predicate. The number of components in the semantic-syntactic structure of a sentence depends on its semantic special features. The semantic-syntactic level of a sentence construction enables to trace special features for semantic expression of sentence components and correlation between the form and content in each specific case.
