Iankovska Z. Folklorism of Ukrainian Prose Literature in the Era of Romanticism

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the major stages in research of relations between Ukrainian prose literature in the era of Romanticism and oral literature; to elucidate theoretical and methodological basis along with classifying features of the notional category of "literature folklorism"; to delineate fundamental levels as well as ideological and artistic meanings of folklorism in the Ukrainian romantic prose in the process of formation of new Ukrainian literature. By the example of works by M. Hohol, H. Kvitka-Osnovianenko, Hanna Barvinok, Markian Shashkevych, O. Storozhenko, P. Kulish and other writers of that period, multi-level forms of interaction of the authored literature with the folk one have been investigated, including not only the language aspect but also the aesthetic transformation of mythologems, archetypes, folk worldview constructs etc. This provided the opportunity for new interpretations of their works.
