Smolenska S. Architecture of avant-garde Modernism in Ukraine: genesis and heritage

The object of research is architecture and urban planning of the avant-garde period of modernism in Ukraine. Subject of research - social factors and urban planning, functional, formwork, architectural-typological, stylistic characteristics of objects Modernism in Ukraine in their development in the 1920's and 1930's. The historical-architectural theory of avant-garde Modernism in Ukraine has been developed as a unique phenomenon in the context of the development of European architecture. The work was based on the primary sources: documents, architectural graphics, literature of the 1920's and 1930's, which made it possible to introduce a wide layer of factual material into the scientific circle. The results of the work can be used in encyclopedic and reference scientific works, in special editions on the attribution of works of architecture, on the history of modern-day architecture; In the field of educational activity in architecture, art studies, design; With inventory and accounting, carrying out restoration works on valuable architectural and urban objects of Modernism, in developing methodological recommendations for the protection of architectural heritage.
