In the thesis theoretical and methodological foundations for teaching Lexicology and Phraseology are substantiated and methods for the development of lexical and phraseological competence of future primary school teachers are elaborated. In the study the content of the basic concepts of the thesis, notably "lexical competence of future primary school teachers", "phraseological competence of future primary school teachers", "lexical and phraseological potential of future primary school teachers" is construed and specified; general and specific didactic principles of teaching Lexicology and Phraseology, modern approaches, forms, methods, procedures and technologies of teaching Lexicology and Phraseology to future primary school teachers are established; theoretical and application-oriented aspect of enriching future primary school teachers' vocabulary is characterized; national-and-cultural component of the content of teaching Lexicology and Phraseology of Ukrainian is singled out; criteria, performance and levels of lexical and phraseological competence development of future primary school teachers are defined; methodology of lexical and phraseological competence formation for future primary school teachers is elaborated; positive dynamic of lexical and phraseological competence development of future primary school teachers is experimentally substantiated. The efficiency of the experimental methods for the formation of lexical and phraseological competence of future primary school teachers based on word-centric and text-centric approaches through enrichment of their vocabulary and working out a system of lexico-phraseological exercises aimed at the development of communicative characteristics of speech is proved.
