Cherniukh B. Functional Semantics of Aspectuality in Latin.

The thesis presents a comprehensive analysis of the functional-semantic category of aspectuality, as well as the aspectual categorization of its semantics and representation in Latin. In the study, the dynamics of the relationship between aspectual semantics and actional types of predicates have been diachronically analyzed on the basis of broad factual material, as well as the role of actionality and context in shaping specific aspectual meanings was detected, aspectual potential of independent and dependent subjunctive was determined, types of action of Latin verbs were singled out and functional modeling of functional-semantic field of aspectuality was made. Also, the nature of aspect in the Latin language, semantics of perfectivity and imperfectivity, sources of aspectual meanings, aspectual potential of prefixation and suffixation were clarified.
