Turchin M. Experimental Substantiation of the Use of Keratoxenoimplantion at Inflammatory Diseases and Damages of the Cornea

The dissertation presents the theoretical generalization and new solution to the scientific problem, based on the experimental substantiation of the probability and practicability of using a xenoimplant of the cornea (pig’s cornea), which was made according to the new technology, for the medical and tectonic keratoplasty at inflammatory diseases and damages of the cornea.At the histological and electron-microscopic levels, the peculiarities of the structural organization of the proper substance of the cornea in the normal condition, which characterize its regenerative properties, have been determined; complex investigations of the peculiarities of the morpho-functional state of pigs’ cornea at various conservation methods have been made. Using the methods of polarizing fluorescence and spectral analysis, the data on the degree of transparency of the cornea at different methods of conservation have been obtained. On the basis of conducting biochemical and morphological investigations, the corrective influence of the keratoxenoimplant on the course of non-penetrating damages of the cornea, consisting in mechanical closure of the affected area of the cornea, reduction of the activity of free radical processes, normalization of the antioxidant system state, activation of the cellular and humoral components of the immune system have been proven.
