Guban R. Formation and development of the administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine in the XX - XXI century (historical and legal research).

The thesis investigates the complex historical and legal bases of the formation and development of the administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine in the XX - XXI century. Characterizes the source base of the study, which contains the legal acts and documents that accompanied their adoption, court decisions, archival and reference materials, memoirs. According to the chronology, six periods of legal regulation of the administrative-territorial system are distinguished: the collapse of the Russian Empire, the period of national liberation competitions from 1917 to 1921, the interwar period, the period of the Second World War, the post-war period, and the period of independent Ukraine. Analysis of the legal status of administrative-territorial units is based on their division into autonomous administrative-territorial units, regions, districts, village councils, settlements and districts in cities. Separately, the peculiarities of legal regulation of the status of administrative-territorial units - the cities of Kyiv and Sevastopol are considered. The conclusion is about the necessity of the adoption of a legal act de jure, comprehensively regulating the administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine.
