The dissertation is devoted to the problem of improving physical education in higher education institutions; one of the ways of solving is designing and implementation of a methodical system of health-improving technologies to the health-preserving educational space in order to form the students' health-improving competence. The concept of the methodical system of health-improving technologies in the process of students' physical education is developed on the basis of the sequence and continuity of their application, in which the general-didactic and special principles are singled out and characterized. The pedagogical conditions of the methodical system have been determined, experimentally checked and grouped into such groups, as organizational-pedagogical, didactic and psychological-pedagogical. On the basis of the correlation analysis the indicators are determined, which are characterized the students' physical state, respectively, the most informative motor tests are established. The structure, content and components of the model of the methodical system of applying health-improving technologies in the process of physical education are determined. The necessity of introducing into the process of students' physical education of the computer software and application complex was proved experimentally, which allows to differentiate and individualize personality-oriented learning based on the peculiarities of designing innovative implementation of forms, means and methods of students' physical education, to control, record and monitor the dynamics of physical health, psycho-physiological qualities, physical preparedness of students. An approach, in which the system of formation of students' theoretical knowledge is aimed, first of all, at solving one of the main tasks of the process of physical improvement - the upbringing of a conscious attitude towards one's health and as the highest social value, is proposed. The practical value of scientific results consists in development, experimental approbation and introduction of the educational and methodological support system into the practice of higher education institutions. The methodology of measuring the level of health-improving competence of the researched students is adapted, which diagnostic tools are determined in accordance with the purpose and hypothesis of the pedagogical experiment. The system of criteria and indicators, which is constructed in relation to the theoretically substantiated requirements, is correlated with the structure of the methodical system of applying health-improving technologies in the process of students' physical education. The levels of health-improving competence of future specialists are substantiated - high, sufficient, average and low. The results of the research of the present state of the health-improving competence formation of the university students according to the determined criteria are presented. The formative stage of the pedagogical experiment has proved that the introduction of an experimental methodical system of applying health-improving technologies into the process of students' physical education provides the formation of students' health-improving competence and increase the effectiveness of physical and health-improving activities of participants in the educational process at a higher education institution.
