The thesis comprehensively examines the constitutional-legal and methodological basics of the national security of Ukraine are determined by the theoretical aspects. Examines the degree of scientific development of constitutional and legal, methodological fundamentals of the national security of the Ukrainian state. The main question in the study focused on the analysis of the national security as constitutional and legal category. In the context of the General theory of national security, analyzes the problem of formation and development of constitutional and legal bases of national security of the Ukrainian state. It is emphasized, that the development and establishment of main stages of the theory of the national security suggests, that each of these stages was filled with its own meaning ,that reflects features of development of society and statehood and has its specific features.
Special attention in research is paid to the analysis of the system of national security in the context of the constitutional law dimension and considering its nature, content, structure. Formulated constitutional and legal definition of the term "national security system" as a fundamental category and component of the theory of the national security, under which the author understands a set of separate, relatively independent and a necessary way of interrelated elements, that define integrity, which ensures the development and protection of vital interests of man and citizen, society and state from internal and external threats.
In the thesis also outlined particular attention to the comprehensive analysis of the main components of the national security system, where special attention is devoted to the study of economic, political and military components.
Analyzing the military component, it is emphasized, that the armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine has once again confirmed the axiom, that the origin and approval of Ukraine as a sovereign, independent state is ensuring its own military security. It is concluded, that the main instrument of ensuring the national security of the state military organization of the Ukrainian state, in particular its main component – the Ukrainian armed forces. Therefore, for Ukraine, which has a defensive doctrine should be created modern, with the characteristic features of the NATO-model of the national army – the optimal size, versatility, well armed, resourced, and at the same time not too burdensome for the Ukrainian state.
In research, an important place is given to the constitutional-legal aspects of ensuring the national security of the Ukrainian state. The author emphasizes the idea, that it is a reality that, on the one hand, acts as a subsystem of the system of national security, and on the other presupposes the existence of relevant bodies, funds, and certain way of regulating the process of adoption and implementation of managerial decisions in the sphere of national security.
