Essay

The study concerning townplanning processes in Western Ukraine while the Baroque period has been undertaken.The influence of the traditions of European town planning and historical preconditions concerning the formation of Western Ukrainian urban development culture has been determined. Main features of historical and town planning development are revealed, and the value of preservation of cities, defensive, palace-park, sacral complexes of Western Ukraine dated mid. XVII - end of XVIII century were discovered.Two main ways of urban development were identified: the laying of new cities and the implementation of reconstruction, modernization, and development of existing urban complexes while the Baroque period. The features of the functional program of cities and the ideological basis of the formation of town planning complexes of that period are determined, and the typology of town planning structures while the investigated period is developed. The features of planning of new cities and regularities of reconstruction, modernization and redevelopment of city planning complexes in the Baroque period are revealed. The periodization of their development was determined and the theoretical schemes of reconstruction of the planning structures of historical cities and ensembles in accordance with the three stages of development were developed. The city-heritage of the Baroque period of Western Ukraine was discovered and its European context was revealed. The general conditions of regeneration of Western Ukrainian valuable historic town planning complexes are developed.
