In the thesis the author has justified and developed theoretical and methodical foundations of developing professional competence of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting by means of information and communication technologies (ICT) based on the principles of market-oriented, competence, technological, personal and activity-based, reflexive, systematic approaches; the complex of general didactic, methodical and special principles of future translators’/interpreters’ professional training; philosophical, pedagogical, psychological and methodical provisions that characterize the laws of informatization of the higher education system, translation and interpreting industry and professional training of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting. The author analyzes the content and structure of the professional competence of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting figuring out its components, characterizes the criteria, indicators and levels of its development, studies the range of ICT for translators’ / interpreters’ professional training: special translation / interpreting (computer-aided translation tools, special equipment for simultaneous interpreting) and additional (e-mail, multimedia presentations, virtual learning environments) ones. At the methodological, theoretical and methodical levels, the author’s conception of developing professional competence of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting by means of ICT has been justified. Pedagogical conditions for developing professional competence of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting by means of ICT have been defined, theoretically justified and implemented. The pedagogical system of developing professional competence of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting by means of ICT has been designed and experimentally tested. The educational and methodical materials for developing professional competence of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting by means of ICT have been suggested. Based on the experimental testing of the proposed model, efficiency of practical implementation of the suggested foundations on developing professional competence of MA students majoring in translation and interpreting by means of ICT has been proved.
