Yermakov V. N. «Scientific fundamentals of ecological safety of urboecosystems around coal mining enterprises of Ukraine». – Qualifying scientific work on the rights of manuscripts. A thesis for a Doctor’s of Engineering Science by specialty 21.06.01 – «Environmental Safety». - State Ecological Academy of Postgraduate Education and Management of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Kyiv, 2018. The thesis is devoted to the urgent issue on ensuring an acceptable level of environmental safety for the population living around coal mines during their closure, taking into account the negative factors for it affecting. By the means of developed algorithm for researches, the thesis provides, on the basis of the actual instrumental data obtained through geological and surveying monitoring of territories, for identification of the consequences of coal reserves extraction under built-up areas and its impact on the further exploitation of damaged facilities as well as for development of the method for geological and surveying observations on large territories of closed mines. Observations in such conditions in world practice have not been described. The thesis also provides for justification of the way to ensure environmental safety, risk assessment and prioritization of rehabilitation measures for solving issues on optimization of technical and technological areas. The model of risk assessment and prioritization of rehabilitation measures for solving the issues of optimization of technical and technological areas, as well as the system of geological and geodetic monitoring (and its components) of ecological conditions of urboecosystems around coal enterprises have been systematized and improved. The scientific, technical and practical recommendations specified in the thesis can be used to ensure the environmental safety of the mining population of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, as well as for discussion on ensuring the environmental safety of the mining population of Ukraine. The restoration of environment for the mining population an important factor in environmental planning in the region in accordance with the requirements of environmental safety in the modern social and economic conditions and an integral part of sustainable economic and social development of Ukraine.
