Thesis for the scientific degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences by specialty 08.00.04 – Economics and management of enterprises (by types of economic activity). – Chernihiv National University of Technology of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Chernihiv, 2018. The dissertation was performed in the PHEI “Ukrainian Humanities Institute”. The dissertation is a manuscript, which substantiates theoretical and methodological principles. Practical recommendations for the formation of the dominant components of food industry development and management of the processes of their implementation in the context of institutional changes have been developed. The essential characteristics of the food and food industry within the processing industry of Ukraine are determined and directions of harmonization of their interests with other spheres of economic activity are outlined. The theoretical aspects of the food industry influence on the processes of public reproduction and peculiarities of the development of these enterprises in the conditions of the effects and contradictions of the transformation period are revealed in the paper. The methodological approaches to the estimation of the development of food industry in modern conditions are substantiated. In particular, the factors of influence on qualitatively new changes of their state to ensure competitiveness under the conditions of institutional changes have been determined. The method of estimation of competitiveness levels of domestic enterprises taking into account strengthening of globalization processes and changes of integration processes vectors is offered. Tendencies and dynamics of development of food industry in the conditions of institutional changes are analyzed. It is proved that the dynamics of food production does not meet the existing potential of domestic economy and is limited to the low level of solvent demand of the population. Particularly limited financial results of economic activity demonstrate food industry in general and most enterprises, which are limited in the framework of dissertation research. This is limited to investment opportunities of business entities to intensify the reproduction processes, does not promote the improvement of the financial condition of enterprises as their foreign economic activity, since the factors of exogenous and endogenous the positive dynamics of export-import operations significantly hinder the nature. Within the framework of the research the criterion dimension of modernization state of the food industry enterprises is carried out and the dominants are outlined, which provide the activation of these processes for borrowing structural transformations in the domestic industrial complex. The most emphasized role of innovations in enhancing the competitive advantages of enterprises of this sphere, especially in the markets of EU countries, which requires deepening of marketing researches on the basis of conformation, branding, adoption of world quality standards products. The strategic directions of the development of the food industry enterprises in the context of real changes in the institutional environment are determined, due to the processes of decentralization of management activities towards increasing the role of local governments, programming of import substitution, development of network and cluster formations.
