The dissertation is devoted to research of problems of public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources in Ukraine. The historical-legal genesis of management in the field of the use and protection of mineral resources in various social formations in the territories of Ukrainian lands (with periodization) has been researched. The definition of the category "public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources" is formulated, its analysis, differentiation with other tangent categories and concepts has been made. The content is explored, peculiarities of administrative legal relations of public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources are determined. The legal characteristics are given and the taxonomic division of the subjects of public administration is carried out. The administrative-legal mechanism of public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources is explored. The concept of the mechanism and principles of public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources is formulated. The description of institutional and institutional provision of public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources is given. The foreign experience in the sphere of public administration of the mineral resource industry in foreign countries (on the examples of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Canada, the United States of America, the Kingdom of Norway, the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of France) has been characterized. The essence and features of administrative and legal responsibility in the field of use and protection of mineral resources are revealed. The peculiarities of administrative and legal responsibility of public administration bodies in the field of use and protection of mineral resources are determined. The definition of the concept of "administrative and legal means for improvement of public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources" is formulated, directions are outlined and the principles of means of improvement of public administration in the field of use and protection of mineral resources are defined.
