Essay

This methodology helps investigate cognitive and pragmatic aspects of some urgent problems of axiology – description, systematization and comparing the values of different lingual and cultural communities; constructing the identity, the language of hate, axiological conflicts, impact of language on value systems. Four axiological propositional structures have been described: 1) the structure of evaluative utterance; 2) the structure of value concept; 3) the structure of discriminative value concept; 4) the structure of cognitive lingual value-constructing model. They might be realized in different combinations and variants and used for the analysis of the above mentioned problems. The propositional structure of a value concept is being modeled. It is based on the predicative connection between an evaluated attribute and evaluative markers. It also contains an evaluative subject and a predicate of mind. Optional slots are represented by beneficiaries, chronological and spatial localizers, and arguments, which prove this connection. The propositional structure of a value concept simulates the result of axiological categorization of a world by a subject. At the same time, the structure of evaluative utterance is modeling the process of axiological categorization. It contains an evaluative subject, a predicate of mind, an evaluated object and a predicate of evaluation. Within it, the optional components are represented by beneficiaries, chronological and spatial localizers, arguments. So, the structure of verbal evaluation is polypredicative and isomorphic to the structure of a value concept. The difference between these two structures is determined by the presence/absence of evaluative subject and predicate of mind in correspondingly evaluative utterance and value concept. The ways of forming the value concepts with the help of verbal means are being determined. They include some verbalized propositional structures, while interpreting which a recipient might outline the predicative connection between a certain attribute and an evaluative marker. Such structures together with the algorithm of their interpretation could be named as cognitive lingual value-constructing models. 8 models of this character have been distinguished. It was discovered that predicative connection between an evaluated object and an evaluative marker is of stochastic essense due to the subjective and variable nature of axiological categorization. This stochasticity is reflected by the probable character of the lingual impact on the conceptual system of an addressee, his/her ability to deconstruct the means of such an impact and resist it. The method of axiological deconstruction as a unified approach to the investigation of different verbalized axiological phenomena was proposed. The essence of the method lies in explication of axiological propositional structures that makes possible their comprehension and reinterpretation. It helps outline the peculiarities of the speaker’s value system, intentions to impact on the addressee’s value system and addressee’s resistance to such an impact.
