Essay

In this paper the specificity of functioning of religion as a social institution in modern Ukrainian society are explored. The basic social functions of religion and the degree of their implementation in a secular society from the point of view of deployment of the process of desecularization are determined. The components of Ukrainian society’s desecularization are analyzed and the conclusion is drawn about the suspension of this process at the macro- and meso- levels. The dependence of the depth of desecularization on the degree of religiosity and on the confessional factor is determined.
