Essay

The author of the dissertation has carried out the comprehensive theoretical and legal, comparative and legal research of a number of general theoretical issues of: the concept, content and essence of democratic elections, interconnection and interdependence of the state’s mechanism and the electoral system, legal regulation of elections in a democratic state and the electoral system of Ukraine. The author has determined the understanding of the essence of the election as theoretical and practical provision of democracy of the stages of its development, the democratization of the state regime as the main form of realization of the sovereign power of people, the guarantor of representing the interests of various social groups and layers of the population in public authorities. Democratic elections have been considered as a form of participation of society in the formation of state authorities and local self-government.
