Essay

The thesis topicality is determined by the lack of a comprehensive exploration of gender mentality representation in contemporary Ukrainian fiction. Individual authorial gender-intentional fictional world models have been investigated both from the viewpoint of inherent text generation and functioning patterns, and extra-fictional, sociocultural factors for the first time in national Literary Studies discourse. The nature of female archetypes transformation in modern Ukrainian literature is explored; the leading types of masculinity, represented by modern novel fiction, are researched and systematized; special attention is paid to artistic strategies for the rehabilitation of national masculinity, which is of particular importance in the post-colonial cultural context. The general tendencies and substantial gender differences of the literary representation of worldview universalia, such as corporeality, space, life and death, are traced.
