Essay

Object - the modern state of irrigated soil resources, changes in the direction of soil processes and soil properties on different ameliorative loads and irrigation duration. Purpose – work out the scientific basis of sustainable management of the irrigated soil resources of the Steppe of Ukraine at the present modern irrigation conditions using system approach which provide balanced their use, optimization of soil functioning regimes, reduction of degradation and fulfillment of ecosystem services. Methods – general scientific, field, laboratory-analytical, statistical, mathematical and calculating. Theoretical results – the scientific basis of sustainable management of the irrigated soil resources of the Steppe of Ukraine at the present stage of the amelioration development are developed; regularities of soil processes progress and orientation of changes in fertility indices of ordinary chernozems and dark chestnut soils depending on the amelioration load, duration and intensity of irrigation аnd also on withdrawal from irrigation are established; predictive models of ordinary chernozems evolution by irrigation of mineralized water and withdrawn from irrigation are developed; methodical approaches to determining the stability of irrigated soils for the development of degradation processes are developed. Practical results – methodical approaches of ecological-agromeliorative survey and complex estimation of irrigated lands are improved; system of estimation of irrigation water quality by the heavy metals content and agronomic criteria was improved, normative and methodological base of irrigated lands monitoring, spatially-differentiated complex synergetic measures for the rational use and reproduction of irrigated soil fertility were developed. Novelty – the scientific basis of sustainable management of the irrigated soil resources of the Steppe of Ukraine at the present stage of the amelioration development, based on the application of the system approach and integrated research and management of the interconnected system «irrigation, groundwater – soil – crop» are developed; regularities of soil processes progress and orientation of changes in fertility indices of ordinary chernozems and dark chestnut soils depending on the amelioration load, duration and intensity of irrigation аnd also on withdrawal from irrigation are established; predictive models of ordinary chernozems evolution by irrigation of mineralized water and withdrawn from irrigation are developed. Methodical approaches to determining the stability of irrigated soils for the development of degradation processes on the basis of an assessment of their physical, chemical indicators and hydrogeological conditions of the territory have been developed. Methodical approaches of ecological-agromeliorative survey of irrigated lands are improved, the system of estimated indicators by ecological-toxicological and agronomical indicators for obtain an integral assessment of the quality of irrigated soils was supplemented. System of estimation of irrigation water quality by the heavy metals content and agronomic criteria was improved. Issues of developing of spatially-differentiated complex synergistic measures for the rational use and reproduction of irrigated soil fertility, integrated management of water and land resources was further developed. Degree of application – the normative and methodical basis of irrigated lands monitoring was developed. It used by the services of the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine, the State Institution «Soils Protection Institute of Ukraine» in monitoring and estimation of the irrigated lands condition what is confirmed relevant acts and certificates. The methods of irrigation waters and soils melioration have been tested and implemented at farms of different ownership forms in Donetsk and Kherson regions (on an area of 6695 hectares). The results of the research were included in the methodological recommendations on improving of the ecological and agromeliorative condition of irrigated and withdrawn from irrigation lands of Donetsk and Kherson regions. The field is agriculture.
