Essay

The thesis is devoted to theoretical generalization and experimental solution of the scientific problem of the search of herbal anticonvulsants. A basic algorithm for the selection of herbs for the further targeted search for herbal anticonvulsants was explained and developed. Experimental research of the main groups of biologically active compounds influencing on the central nervous system functioning was carried out: amino acids, flavonoids, alkaloids, polyphenols, alkaloids, hydroxycinnamic acids. On the model of pentylenetetrazole-induced seizures, as well as by in-depth study of anticonvulsant activity mechanisms high anticonvulsant potential of dry aqueous extracts of Fumaria officinalis herb and Ocimum basilicum herb was determined. Anticonvulsant potential of dry aqueous extracts chemical compounds was calculated using PASS-online software. Qualitative and quantitative correlation between chemical composition and anticonvulsant activity of the studied dry extracts. The original software «AntiConvulsant_Test» was developed for determination of anticonvulsant potential of herbs depending on chemical composition. The obtained regularities of the influence of presence and qualitative content of different groups of biologically active compounds on anticonvulsant effect realization were summarized as a decision tree for optimization of the search for herbal anticonvulsants.
