Essay

In the dissertation the methodological concepts (competence, communicative activity, contextual approaches) and theoretical bases of the English language professional training of future doctors in medical higher schools are developed and scientifically substantiated. The phenomenon “English language preparedness of future doctors” was determined as the result of their purposeful English-speaking professional training in medical higher schools, a complex multicomponent English-speaking professionally oriented formation with the set specific professional and personal qualities, the acquired system of scientific medical knowledge, formed English speech abilities and skills, positive motivation for future English language professional activity, the ability to render medical assistance to the patients during interpersonal communication in both native and English languages. The components (linguistic, sociolinguistic, socio-cultural, pragmatic), criteria (verbal, perception and speech, information and speech, reproduction of information) with сorresponding indicators are specified, levels of English professional training of future doctors (high, sufficient, satisfactory, low) are characterized; the pedagogical conditions in English professional training of future doctors (motivational sustainability and awareness of the necessity of learning English for medical students aimed at future professional communication; integration of professional and linguistic (English orientation) disciplines in the educational process of higher medical schools; creating educational English professionally oriented medium at higher medical schools; attracting future doctors in the process of learning to active English professionally oriented activities) are defined and scientifically substantiated; the model of English-language training of future doctors at higher medical schools with corresponding stages (motivation, activity, communication training, reflexive evaluation) was developed and justified; the notions "professional training", "professional preparedness", "English language professional training", "English language professional preparedness", "English language professional activity" were сlarified. The diagnostic and experimental techniques of English language training of future doctors were developed, elective course "The doctor’s English language professional speech activity" were developed".
