In the dissertation we have analyzed the theoretical, methodical and practical bases of formation of interethnic tolerance in the process of professional training of future primary school teachers. Primary school teachers often solve complex professional tasks related to working in a multi-ethnic educational environment, which is able to provide junior students with knowledge of the culture of different ethnicities and to strengthen the positions of constructive cooperation in the educational process in accordance with the requirements of the Conception of the New Ukrainian School. Against this background, a prospective primary school teacher should have an established inter-ethnic tolerance. We have analyzed the content of the multiethnic educational environment and found out the spectrum of practical activity of future primary school teachers in its conditions.
It has been established that interethnic tolerance accumulates considerable educational and upbringing potential, aimed at increasing the level of general personality culture, culture of thinking, prepares for intercultural communication with representatives of different ethnic groups. Interethnic tolerance is understood as a systematic qualitative characteristic of a person, which testifies to internal harmony, developed ability to self-control and self-correction while communicating with representatives of different ethnic groups and helps to establish a psychologically comfortable situation for effective activity on the basis of positive synergy. It has been established that interethnic tolerance encompasses the unity and interrelation between motivational-value, cognitive, activity-behavioral and reflexive-creative components and their indicators on a four-level scale (high, sufficient, medium, low), proposed a diagnostic tool for determining the state of its formation.
We have designed the pedagogical conception of the formation of interethnic tolerance, which reflects the theoretical and methodological principles of improving the professional training of undergraduates to work in the multi-ethnic educational environment of primary school. The main purpose of the conception was to design comprehensive measures to optimize interethnic interaction, develop interethnic communication skills and reduce negative ethnic stereotypes that hinder the establishment of harmony between different ethnic groups in a multi-ethnic primary school environment.
The system of formation of interethnic tolerance of future primary school teachers in the process of professional preparation at the Master’s degree, which has a block structure and consists of: theoretical-purpose (purpose, task, conception) has been substantiated, developed and experimentally tested; content-methodological (substantive characteristics of interethnic tolerance, approaches, principles); organizational and procedural (stages, pedagogical conditions, disciplines); activity-practical (forms, methods of training and education, means); evaluation-resultant (components, levels, result) of the blocks, as well as its structural and functional model. The main emphasis in the formation of interethnic tolerance of future primary school teachers has been placed on methodological approaches (competence, activity, cultural, axiological, personally oriented, environmental, systemic) and pedagogical principles (multicultural, humanization, tolerance, individualization).
We have developed the mechanisms of introduction of pedagogical conditions. For the maximum realization of the author’s system we have presented scientific and methodological support of scientific, auditorium, educational, independent work, practical training on the basis of the choice of the most optimal forms and methods of teaching and upbringing. It has been introduced a professionally oriented educational discipline «Theory and Practice of Forming Interethnic Tolerance of Future Primary School Teachers»; deepened the content of academic subjects with theoretical information and special practical exercises and tasks on interethnic tolerance; developed the training «Interethnic tolerance as a factor of professionalism of primary school teacher».
In the course of the research the effectiveness of the developed system of formation of interethnic tolerance of future primary school teachers in the process of professional preparation at the Master’s degree has been experimentally verified, which has been confirmed by the results of the formative stage of the research.
