This thesis presents the concept of research into the genesis of Internet texts understanding.
The model proposed by the author for the genesis of Internet texts is based on the principles of psycholinguistics, the theory of speech activity, the theory of text understanding and individual concepts of Internet psychology, in particular the psychological sense of the Internet as a network of interpersonal and inter-group contacts mediated by appropriate devices, resulting in its technological specificity and psychological changes in personality. It also builds on psycholinguistic definitions of text.
Based on a theoretical and methodological analysis of the problem of understanding Internet texts, a conceptual model for the understanding of Internet texts has been developed. It takes into account the principles of development and determinism, ideas of systemic, action-oriented, cognitive, genetic, psycholinguistic and cyber-psychological approaches. It also incorporates sequence of the process of understanding, its mechanisms and the patterns of genesis.
It is argued that the understanding of Internet texts is a polymodal psychological process that takes place in several stages (reception, interpretation and emotional identification), resulting in new secondary meanings (which are objectified as secondary text) which is a reaction to the elements of sense of the original Internet.
It is determined that the process and result of understanding depend on subjective (level of experience, development of the recipient’s thinking and Internet-oriented personality) and objective (multimedia and deviant context of the Internet environment) factors.
The results of a theoretical and empirical study of the Internet texts understanding led to the creation of an empirical model of the dynamics of the understanding texts genesis in adolescence, youth and adulthood.
An analysis of the age dynamics of the understanding genesis has shown that in adolescence many indicators of successful understanding (other than the adequacy of assessing the understandability of Internet texts) have a strong positive influence by the level of Internet experience as well as thinking and speech development. The genesis of understanding Internet texts in youth is most strongly determined by factors of thinking and speech development and Internet orientation.
These factors have a significant positive impact on the reception and interpretation stages, but negatively affect the adequacy of the assessing of the Internet texts understandability at the stage of emotional identification.
The regularity of the influence of objective factors is defined as follows: the multimedia factor leads to positive changes in the success of the understanding at the stage of interpretation and in the adequacy of the assessing of the Internet texts understandability, but negatively affects the accuracy of the expectations of the recipients. The deviant context of the Internet environment has a negative impact on the active reception and the success of the interpretation, but positively affects on the understanding of the Internet texts (but only on deviant texts).
On the basis of the presented conceptual framework, a psychological training for the development of a successful understanding of Internet texts has been justified and tested. The realization of psychological training has shown its significant developing influence. A positive trend was recorded in the success of the Internet texts in the pilot group for almost all indicators. Therefore, the success of the Internet texts understanding at any age is improved by the implementation of an appropriate training programme aimed at developing skills for successful understanding of Internet texts.
The results of the study are related to practical solutions to the problems of the success of the Internet texts understanding in order to further predict behaviour, to construct a predictive methodology and to assess the understandability of the Internet context environment. A training programme for the development of a successful Internet texts understanding has been validated and tested and will be useful at different stages of the educational process in the development of readership skills for successful understanding of Internet texts.
