The thesis is devoted to scientific substantiation and solution of problems in planning, organization and performing of dental sanitation in children under the conditions of general anesthesia based on the results of monitoring body’s vital functions and the level of cerebral oxygenation for preserving the brain’s cognitive functions at treatment stages and in the postoperative period. Dental treatment under general anesthesia should be performed in children with “difficult” temperament (44,94%) and “cryptogenic” phobias (69,0%), whose dental status is characterized by high intensity of dental caries and its complications. It is established that in the case of cognitive dissonance in the presence of “cryptogenic” phobias in children under 3 years of age, functional changes in the brain occur mainly in the area of speech perception (58 ± 2,51%), in children of 3-7 years - in the area of long-term memory (63,0 ± 3,1%), in children aged 7-12 years - in the area of coherent speech (73,0 ± 2,7%), in adolescents of 12-18 years - in the area of intelligence (68,0 ± 2,92%). According to the results of cerebral oximetry, it was found that the safe period of time for oral cavity sanation under general anesthesia is: in children under 3 years ‒ 30 ± 10 minutes, in those aged 3-7 years and 7-12 years ‒ 40 ± 15 minutes, aged 12-18 years ‒ 60 ± 15 minutes. Algorithms for oral cavity sanation under general anesthesia have been developed, the use of which has reduced the risk of complications during oral cavity sanation by 27,04%.
