Mikhno N. City as a cultural text: features of semantics and syntagmatics of urban space.

Object of the study: city as a cultural text. Objective: to identify the characteristic features of the discursive construction of the semantic-syntagmatic urban area and the influence of socio-cultural and socio-historical frames on the production of the city’s discursive formations as a cultural text. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, analogy, induction, deduction, systems analysis, in-depth individual interviews, document analysis, discourse analysis. Theoretical and practical results: the research approach to the study of the city as a cultural text is substantiated; a matrix of analysis of power discourse in urban space has been developed; the conceptualization of the concept of "city" in the categories of discursive-constructivist, socio-cultural and semiotic approaches, which allowed to expand the boundaries of sociological analysis of urban space by including in the focus of research intentions categories «semantic space of the city», «discursive space of the city», «syntagmatic space of the city» ; the visual component and meaningful features of the semantic space of the city during the city performance are characterized; the peculiarities of the study of the elements of discursive production of locality by analyzing the processes of manifestation are clarified; the strategies of the analysis of features of change of directions of (re) configuration of historical and social memory in architectural landscapes of the city are specified; the specifics of (de) construction of public and private spaces of the city by involving heuristic possibilities of visual analysis and discourse-analytical strategy are determined. Novelty: the important scientific problem of the sociology of the city is solved - the conceptual scheme of research of the city as the cultural text based on the definition of character of the discursive production of textuality of the city is developed. Degree of implementation: The results of the research were tested and implemented in the Department of Sociology of the Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
