Essay

The object of the research is the poetics of narrative of the Anglophone literary texts for children. The subject of the research – verbal and nonverbal means of creating poetics of narrative of the English, American and Australian literary texts for children in cognitive, cultural and multimodal linguistic aspects. The aim of the research is to reveal cognitive, cultural and multimodal specificity of creating poetics of narrative of the English, American and Australian literary texts for children of the XIX-XXIst centuries. The major scientific methods are: textual-interpretative, compositional, lexical-semantical, narratological, cognitive-narratological, stylistic, semiotic, cultural and methods of multimodal linguistics and multimodal stylistics analysis. The scientific novelty – establishing a new field of narratological research of literary texts for children – peotological narratology; building play models of narration Quest, Merry-go-round, Puzzle, Distorting mirror; providing definition of the term ethnonarrative for children, pinpointing taxonomy of the types of narratives based on the two criteria. The theoretical significance of the paper is determined by its contribution to poetical-narratological analysis of literary texts for children, cognitive narratology, plot and compositional, cultural, and narrative specificity of literary texts for children of different genres. The results of revealed verbal and nonverbal means of creating fictional narratives make a contribution into multimodal narratology and multimodal stylistics. The suggested taxonomy of fictional narratives for children makes a contribution into genre studies. The practical value of the obtained results lies in the possibility to apply them in teaching stylistics of the English language (themes “Stylistic analysis of the literary text”, “Poetological analysis of the literary text”, “Stylistic semasiology”), literary text interpretation (themes “Text composition. Plot. Plot structure of the literary text”), linguistic studies (themes “Gender linguistics”), teaching courses in cultural literary studies, literature of England and the USA (themes “English literature for children”, “American literature for children”), special courses in language cultural studies, genre studies, narratology, psycholinguistics.
