Essay

The thesis examines the essential features of the phenomenon of early American philosophy, its periodization, and the main philosophical questions that dominated at different times of this period. Traditionally, American philosophy is associated with the American pragmatism, which arose at the end of the 19th century, and appeared as the “golden age” of the history of American philosophy. The dissertation answers the question of what philosophical ideas preceded pragmatism. For this purpose, the dissertation analyzes the textual base of prominent representatives of the history of American philosophical thought, their biography, and their influence on other equally outstanding thinkers.
