The dissertation contains scientific grounding for theoretical and methodological aspects and scientific and practical recommendations on the increase of efficiency of the state management of the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy on the way of its integration to the European political, economic, security, legal space, acquisition of membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance under the threat from the Russian Federation, in the context of radical changes in the external and internal security environment of Ukraine, which together allow solving important scientific problem in the field of the state management in terms of theoretical, methodological and scientific and practical justification of mechanisms in the field to implement the state policy on the national security and defense of Ukraine.
The sources of direct internal and external challenges to Ukraine's national security in foreign policy have been identified and their content revealed.
The author's approach offered to the interpretation of the essence of categories in the field of the national security involves the specification of essential characteristics of such concepts as: “national security of Ukraine”, “the system of providing national security of Ukraine”, “direct internal challenges to the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “direct external challenges to the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “state policy on ensuring the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “the principles of the state management of the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “the state management of border security of Ukraine in the context of ensuring national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “the state management of the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “the mechanisms of the state management of the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “political and diplomatic mechanism of implementation of the state policy on ensuring the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy”, “the state and legal mechanism for implementing the policy on ensuring the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy.”
There was a sociological survey of civil servants on blocks of issues grouped by the main directions of formation and implementation of the state policy on the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy, which was aimed at determining the level of effectiveness of formation and implementation of such policy.
There were defined the priority directions and ways of improvement of the state management of the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy.
There was developed a structural and functional model of mechanisms of the state management of the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy.
There were considered and characterized the mechanisms of the state management of the national security of Ukraine in foreign policy, i.e.: organizational, political, legal, economic and military ones.
