The thesis research aims to study theoretical framework of judges’ constitutional and legal status in Ukraine. The academic paper defines the concept of judges’ constitutional and legal status, its distinctive features have been marked. The present state of researches of judges’ legal status is analyzed in the context of constitutional law and other legal sciences. The dissertation formulates the concept of research methodology for studying judges’ constitutional and legal status that includes worldview principles and methods of scientific knowledge. The dissertation outlines six main stages in formation and development of constitutional regulation for judges’ legal status. The research defines the conception of structure of judges’ constitutional and legal status and its elements, the notion of principles of judges’ constitutional and legal status and their classification. The legal capacity and competence of judges is researched as a key pillar of their legal status. The notion of guarantees of judges’ constitutional and legal status and their system is developed. The place of legal responsibility is determined in the structure of judges’ constitutional and legal status. The research specifies the constitutional and legal mechanisms of renewal and priorities for enhancing professional development of judicial personnel, ways to normalize the limits of judicial discretion and directions how to combine the principle of judges’ independence with public control provisions.
