Essay

Social informatization, which intensified with the development of the information society, led to a significant update of the tasks of the modern library sphere. An important factor in the growing volume of new information in circulation was the effects of informatization, associated with the creation of technological opportunities that not only provide access to available information resources to almost all categories of citizens, but also create conditions for individual information production. This process has led to a sharp increase in the amount of information produced, the intensification of information exchanges, which creates an increasing burden on the human mind, the modern user of electronic resources. Promising ways to improve the management of modern information resources, reduce information pressure on the consciousness of the individual are computerization, the development of electronic information technology and the improvement of modern library activities. On the one hand, libraries should perform their inherent function of preserving and organizing the use of socially significant part of currently produced information, on the other - these institutions should become information centers to effectively assist users in productive use of relevant information in all spheres of public life. The library sphere of activity should accelerate and expand its information-analytical function. The activity of our country can have serious and develop prospects in the field of information processes management of society within its competence in systemic development of society, when it needs development information. Librarians should become effective information operators who study information flows and manage the organization of the use of socially significant information resources. In the near future, they should become intermediaries between the gigantic and growing volumes of information in the global information space and the specific user. Libraries of post-industrial society should also become centers of neutralization of negative information influences in the national infosphere.
