Essay

The object – the plant raw material of plants from the Genera Basil (Ocimum L.), Dragonhead (Dracocephalum L.), Hyssop (Hyssopus L.), Giant hyssop (Agastache Gronov, syn. Lophanthus Adans.), Bee Balm (Monarda L.) and Savory (Satureja L.) from the Catnip subfamily (Nepetoideae Burnett.) of the Mint family (Lamiaceae Martinov); the purpose – comprehensive pharmacognostic research of 10 unofficial species of plants belonging to the 6 genera of Nepetoideae subfamily; the standardization parameters for their raw materials and developed on their basis herbal medicinal products (HMP) with the certain pharmacological effects were determined; the analyzes of the dependences of biological activities of the HMP on the contents of their main biologically active compounds (BAC) were performed; methods – chromatography, spectrometry, spectrophotometry, gravimetry, titrimetry, microscopic analysis, in vivo and in vitro, statistical; results – the component compositions and contents of the main groups of BAC of primary and secondary synthesis, lipophilic fractions, macro- and microelements have been established for the raw materials of the studied species. The component content of free amino acids, carbohydrates, and carboxylic acids was determined among the primary metabolites. The contents of 13 elements were analyzed. The peculiarities of accumulation and component composition of essential oils from the herbs of 12 studied objects (10 species, including 4 forms of plant) were established. The raw materials of the most promising species for comprehensive pharmacognostic research were revealed: american basil, moldavian dragonhead (violet form), giant hyssop (violet form), bee balm and summer savory. Specific chromatographic profiles and content of terpenoids and phenolic compounds have been established for the raw materials of these species. There were isolated 6 individual compounds from bee balm herb and structure of 4 of them was revealed. The complexes of diagnostic morphological and anatomical features of raw materials of the studied species were determined. The optimal extraction conditions for the raw materials have been established and technological schemes for obtaining new HMP have been developed. The various pharmacological effects of obtained HMP have been studied. Standardization parameters of the studied raw materials and HMP were offered. The technological schemes for the extracts developed from the summer savory and american basil have been tested in the industrial conditions. Іntroduced – in the scientific work of the institutions of higher education and research centers of the pharmaceutical area. Direction – pharmacy.
