Essay

The theoretical and methodological principles of teaching Ukrainian to foreign students are substantiated as a result of studying the objective factors of teaching Ukrainian to foreign citizens in higher education institutions, generalizing pedagogical experience, analyzing the history of teaching methods of Ukrainian as a foreign language, studying special scientific papers on the selected problem. A model of secondary professional language personality of а foreign student of humanities is proposed. This model takes into account textual competence (as its nuclear component and at the same time the purpose of study) and the factors that ensure this goal: an appropriate organization of training at propaedeutic and basic stages; a competent teacher of Ukrainian as a foreign language; leading methodological principles of teaching (text-based teaching, personality-oriented dialogic interaction, culturological orientation); teaching methods and techniques (group work, project activities, discussion, game techniques, work with a film, educational trip, creative writing). The educational text materials are the foundation of the methodology aimed at the formation of Ukrainian professional and communicative competence of foreign students of humanities. The essential characteristics of the basic concepts of the research are outlined, among them language personality, secondary language personality, secondary professional language personality, foreign language communicative competence, foreign language professional communicative competence. The semantic content of the concepts educational text, educational text materials, modeled educational text, educational local lore text, textual competence, linguodidactic analysis of the text is specified. The structure of the educational text materials on Ukrainian as a foreign language, the principles of modeling educational texts on everyday topics, educational scientific texts for foreign students of the initial stage of study, local lore texts are characterized. The decisive role of the literary text for the formation of textual competence of foreign students of humanities is proved. A system of criteria for selection and adaptation of educational literary texts is proposed. The linguodidactic potential of certain genres (legends, literary tales, essays) and the works of a writer (V. Sukhomlinsky, T. Shevchenko, M. Kotsyubynsky) is studied. The complex system of tasks to the educational literary text is presented. The effectiveness of the methodology of teaching Ukrainian to foreign students of humanities, based on the concepts of educational text materials, is experimentally proved.
