Object: the process of formation of linguistic-and-methodological competence in prospective foreign languages teachers; the purpose is to substantiate theoretical and methodological backgrounds of the system of formation of linguistic-and-methodological competence of prospective foreign languages teachers and experimentally test the system within their professional training; methods: analysis of scientific literature, systematization and classification of scientific guidelines, modeling, surveys, questionnaires, testing, observation, interviews, pedagogical monitoring, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics; novelty: the theoretical and methodological backgrounds of the system of formation of linguistic-and-methodological competence of prospective teachers of foreign languages in the process of their professional training are substantiated, which includes target, subject-objective, space, semantic and technological components; the concept of “linguistic-and-methodological competence of prospective teacher of a foreign language” is introduced into academic thesaurus; the system of formation of linguistic-and-methodological competence of prospective teachers in the process of their professional training is modeled, substantiated and developed; results: educational and methodological support for academic disciplines in different cycles; the curriculum, educational and methodological support of the special course on “Linguistic-and-methodological training of a present foreign language teacher”; methodological recommendations on practical implementation of technological support; the content of the course material for self-study; complexes of creative and research tasks; recommendations for pedagogical practice; diagnostic tools for determining the level of formation of linguistic-and-methodological competence of prospective teachers of foreign languages; teaching aids for prospective teachers of foreign languages are developed; field - theory and methodology of professional education.
