The dissertation is devoted to the complex research of the political and legal doctrine of the Crusades of the Middle Ages in the context of the analysis of its theoretical-methodological and historical-legal determinants of formation and development on the basis of the developed author's concept of its doctrinal principles. The author analyzes the place and role of the Crusades in the system of state and legal regulators of socio-political life of Christendom in the Middle Ages, explores the ideological principles and doctrinal features of the Crusades in theological and political thought of the Middle Ages and the importance of the Crusades for socio-political legal development of Europe. The conceptual bases of formation of political and legal doctrine of the Crusades of the Middle Ages in the context of which the influence of the Crusades on the development of canon law and jurisprudence, the main factors of the Papal Reformation in the Middle Ages and historical and legal bases of formation of spiritual and knightly orders are singled out. The paper reflects the importance of the political and legal doctrine of the Crusades for the development of ethnic Ukrainian lands. The role of Christianity and the influence of Catholicism on the state-building processes of Kievan Rus and Galicia-Volyn state, as well as political and legal aspects of European integration of Kievan Rus and Galicia-Volyn state during the Crusades are clarified.
