Essay

The paper examines the influence of the military reform in the Russian Empire in 1864–1883 for the personnel component of the army in the Ukrainian lands. Changes in the structure of the army on the territory of Ukraine in the specified historical period are tracked. The features of the formation of the national army of the period of the Ukrainian revolution of 1917-1921 are revealed. The organizational and legal aspects of the formation of the Red Army in Soviet Ukraine in the 1920s and 1930s have been studied.
