Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of Polish constitutionalism on the basis of such basic laws as the King Henry's Articles, the Constitution of May 3 1791, The Constitution of the Duchy of Warsaw, The Constitution of the Kingdom of Poland, The Small Constitution of 1919, The August Novelization of 1921, The April Constitution of Poland of 1935, The Constitution of the Polish People's Republic of 1952, the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of 1997. Based on the analysis of the content of Polish constitutions, the genesis of the formation of Polish constitutionalism is discovered; trends in its development in the first half of the XIX century, first half XX century and at the beginning of the XXI century are revealed. It is shown that the first constitutional acts in Europe were the Pylyp Orlyk’s Constitution which were compiled in the Cossack-Hetman state and the Constitution of May 3 1791 which appeared in Rzeczpospolita.
