The main clinical and epidemiological features of diphtheria in Ukraine were described basing on official date. C.diphtheriae population's structure and changes of its biotypes, toxigenicity and keeping of silent tox-gene during various epidemic periods was studed. The approach to the studying of the structure and conditions of cellular receptors for diphtheria toxin by plant lectins is worked out.
