Girko V. Non-traditional methods of making wheat breeding material

Technologies and laboratory regulations of synthesis of introgressive cereal forms, in vitro chemical and physical mutagenesis, selection and estimation of wheat genotypes in the systems in vitro for resistance to limiting abiotic and biotic factors of environment were mastered by practice. Ranges of recombinant and mutation variability were investigated; tendencies, trends and vectors of selection of breeding material in reproductive generations were defined. Vast breeding material was singled out, one winter wheat variety, one spring wheat variety, five triticale varieties were developed and three sorghum-Sudan grass synthetic populations were created. Nine of them are included in National Registers of Ukraine's and Russia's varieties. Production sowing area under varieties mention above reached level 300 thous. ha and ensured the harvesting capacity rising on 10-24%.
