Essay

The dissertation has made a retrospective analysis of the establishment and development of boarding facilities in Transcarpathia in the first half of the twentieth century. The scientific novelty and the theoretical significance of the results on the basis of systematic retrospective analysis, the social and pedagogical foundations of Transcarpathian boarding institutions establishment and development in the first half of the twentieth century were investigated in the system of transformational changes that took place in the context of state-territorial subordination of Transcarpathian lands (including to The Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Czechoslovak Republic, and Hungary); the conditions, which influenced the chronological limits of the study, the process of formation and development of residential institutions: social and pedagogical were described; the boarding institutions establishment and development in Transcarpathia in the first half of the twentieth century process’ periodization is substantiated: Stage I (1901 – 1919)– alegal framework creation for the state boarding institutions functioning; Stage II (1919 – 1938)– theeducational work system improvement in boarding schools); Stage III (1939 – 1944) – the boarding education pedagogical practice collapse, influencespreading on the religious and social organizations’ development; the European countries(Austria-Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Hungary) legislation, where territorially (in chronology) belonged modern Transcarpathian lands, influence on the boarding education formation and development is obtained; the organization, subordination and management, staffing and Transcarpathian boarding institutions’ activities content peculiarities in the period under study are determined and the main tendencies in their development are systematized in accordance with the developed periodization. The little-known archival sources and normative-legal documents which considerably enrich the source base of the national historical-pedagogical science are introduced to the actual research plane. Further development was gained by constructive ideas from the experience of Transcarpathian boarding schools in the first half of the twentieth century.
