Stashkiv Y. Administrative and Legal Regulation of Preventive Activities of District Police Officers

In the thesis, the scientific issue of developing administrative and legal regulation of DPO’s preventive activities is theoretically generalized and provided with a new solution, moreover, sound theoretical generalizations, conclusions and recommendations, aimed at improving Ukrainian legislation and its practical application in this field, are formulated. The place of prevention in the system of counteraction to crime is determined. The historical background of the prevention theory, as well as current trends in the scientific development of this issue, are analysed. The study enables to conclude that existing preventive activity has gone beyond criminology and requires skilled intervention of experts of other sectors of law, first of all, administrative. The basic criminological concepts are analysed and the author’s original definitions, which reflect, primarily, the role of administrative law in the field under analysis, are formulated.
