Essay

The expediency of studying the given problem is enhanced by the need to overcome contradictions between social significance of providing quality in higher music and pedagogical education in Ukraine on the basis of a competency-based approach and its real state; between the expediency of using advanced ideas of Chinese scientists about how to organize the process of professional competence formation for future Musical Art teachers and poor awareness of these ideas amongst Ukrainian educators; the need to creatively implement in the Ukrainian higher school promising experience of higher education institutions in the People's Republic of China, which concerns the formation of this competence in students of music and pedagogical majors and the lack of appropriate organizational and methodological support on it. For the first time it has been revealed the state of elaboration of the problem on formation of professional competence of future Musical Art teachers in higher education institutions of the People's Republic of China; as well as the essence of key research concepts (‘profession’, ‘professionalism’, ‘competence’, ‘competency’), which are specific to professional training of school teachers within music-pedagogical major. In particular, the essence of entrepreneurial competence of Musical Art teachers is revealed and a composition and content of professional competence of Musical Art teachers are clarified. Experience in professional competence formation of Musical Art teachers in higher education institutions of the People's Republic of China is characterized and the main directions for creative use of Chinese educators’ works on the problem of forming professional competence in students of Music and Pedagogy major in the higher school of Ukraine are singled out. The dissertation also considers genesis of the idea on formation of professional competence of future Musical Art teachers in China, moreover the further development of pedagogical ideas about methods, forms, educational technologies for formation of professional competence of music and pedagogical students from higher education institutions in China. A significant number (i.e. 49) of unknown and little-known in Ukraine information sources (historical, scientific and pedagogical, educational and methodological works of Chinese scientists) related to the formation of professional competence in future Musical Art teachers have been introduced into scientific circulation.
