Mosiichuk Y. Improving wastewater treatment and use technology in rural areas

The thesis is a completed scientific study, which solves the urgent task of improving the technology of tertiary wastewater treatment for its reuse in rural areas. It has been established the mechanism of changing the efficiency of wastewater treatment at bioreactors with fibrous media and contact-clarifying filters with expanded polystyrene media for tertiary treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater from agro-industrial enterprises for their further reuse in rural areas. It has been determined the dependences of the change in the efficiency of wastewater treatment at a bioreactor with fibrous media on the quality of the source water, the rate of downward filtration and the design parameters of the facility. It has been studied the effect of the amount of activated sludge in the subfilter space of the contact-clarifying filter on the quality characteristics of pre-treated wastewater during its upward movement through the expanded polystyrene media and it has been determined the parameters of changing the rate of specific dirt capacity depending on the filtration rate and design parameters of the facility. It has been substantiated the feasibility of application of the developed installations for tertiary wastewater treatment in the closed systems of water use at the enterprises of agro-industrial complex to reduce capital and operational costs and increase purification efficiency.
