Essay

This thesis focuses on the study of linguistic manifestations of intertextuality in the Orthodox sermons in three languages examined in taxonomic and functional aspects. For the first time in Ukrainian and foreign linguistics, the problem of determining the types, means, and various functions of intertextuality in the Orthodox sermon has been comprehensively studied in a linguistic perspective. Intertextuality in the Orthodox sermon is defined as a text- and meaning-making category that forms the preaching genre through the paratextual manifestations, metatextual interpretation and architextual connections of the Sacred Tradition texts, as well as by means of verbal and non-verbal textual borrowings belonging to other discursive practices and cultural traditions.
