Chang Peng. Transformation of elements of Chinese architecture in European architecture of the 18th - early 20th centuries. – The qualification scientific work at the right of a manuscript. A thesis for a Doctor of Philosophy degree by specialty 191 - Architecture and Urban Planning, specialization - architecture. - Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Kyiv, 2021. The introduction presents and substantiates the relevance of the research topic, the purpose and objectives of the research; it defines the object and subject of the research, chronological and territorial boundaries, scientific novelty; it reveals the theoretical and practical value of the work, the approbation of research results, publications of the applicant. The first section "The state and issues of the study of the impact of Chinese architecture on European architecture", analyses the information sources of the presented topic; the influence of historical, climatic and cultural factors on the emergence and development of small Chinese forms - pavilions, as well as the reasons for the emergence of the "Chinoiserie" style in Europe and the specifics of its manifestation in various fields of art and everyday life. The second section "Fundamentals of the methodology for the study of styles characterystycs of traditional Chinese arhitecture" describes the developed methodology, identifies the possibilities of using a systematic approach in the study of Chinese pavilions and describes the procedure for studying Chinese pavilions and pavilions of the "Chinoiserie" style based on the method of system-structural analysis, highlights the principles and schemes of preservation and restoration of the Chinese pavilions in the light of public policy and international monument protective documents. The third section "Urban planning, space-planning and artistic-figurative features of Chinese pavilions", determines the basic principles and characteristic methods of placing pavilions according to their functional purpose, types of plans, the specifics of building a volumetric-spatial composition, the peculiarities and structures of pavilions, their decorative finishing and colour scheme. This section, in fact, is the main one since it proves that with the help of the chosen methodology, based on the sources and materials of the author's research, it is possible to systematically reflect the basic principles of the design and construction of Chinese pavilions; it enables comparing them in section four with pavilions in the chinoiserie style. The fourth section, "The Manifestation of Stylized Forms of Chinese Pavilions in the Chinoiserie Style", determines the specifics of the town-planning arrangement of the pavilions, their image, planning, the morphology of forms, decor and colour solutions.
