Kalinyuk A. Family and legal status of stepfather and stepmother in Ukraine

The dissertation is a complex scientific research of the family and legal status of the stepfather and stepmother in Ukraine. The dissertation studies general theoretical and methodological principles of family law status of stepfather and stepmother and outlines the state of scientific development of the problem, methodology of research of family law status of stepfather, stepmother, analyzes foreign legislation and scientific doctrine in the outlined sphere. The author formulates her definitions of “stepfather”, “stepmother”, where the term “stepfather” is proposed to mean the husband of the mother who married a woman who has a child from her previous marriage (or has the status of a single mother); the term “stepmother” should be understood as the wife of the father to whom he is married and has a child from his previous marriage (or has the status of a single father). It is substantiated that the only basis for the outset of family law relations with the participation of stepfather, stepmother is the marriage between them on the terms and in the manner prescribed by law.
