The dissertation deals with peculiarities of the administrative and legal mechanism to protect and defend intellectual property rights in the field of medicine and biotechnology and determines the areas for its improvement. The author’s definition of the concept “administrative and legal mechanism to protect and defend intellectual property rights in the field of medicine and biotechnology” is formulated. The elements of administrative and legal mechanism to protect and defend intellectual property rights in the field of medicine and biotechnology are: 1) legal relations (subjects, object, content); 2) principles of administrative and legal protection and defense of intellectual property rights in the field of medicine and biotechnology; 3) administrative and legal norms governing the protection and defense of intellectual property rights in the field of medicine and biotechnology; 4) administrative liability for infringement of intellectual property rights in the field of medicine and biotechnology.
