Dubonos K. The use of biometric databases of units of the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the investigation of criminal offenses

The author of the dissertation has provided theoretical provisions and practical recommendations on the use of biometric data bases of units of the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the investigation of criminal offenses. The main stages of development of registration of biometric data by departmental agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine have been determined. It has been established that the regulatory regulation of the use of biometric databases in Ukraine consists in the normative fixing of the rules of activity of authorized entities for the formation and use of records of human biometric data in order to protect the rights and freedoms of the individual and the citizen. It has been emphasized that the state of regulatory regulation of the use of biometric databases in general and the departments of the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in particular is unsatisfactory. The main directions of improving the regulatory regulation of the use of biometric databases in Ukraine have been identified. Attention is drawn to the necessity of adopting the law of Ukraine “On state registration of human genomic information”.
