Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the creative heritage of Huang Ji (1901 – 1938) – "Chinese Schubert" of the mid-1920s - 1930s, the founder of academic Chinese musical art of the twentieth century, based on the synthesis of national professional music culture and Western principles of composition, music science and education. It is established that the interpretation of the historical role of Huang Ji's creative personality in the development of the national musical academic art is distinguished by a radical reassessment. In the 1930s, lifelong assessments of Huang Ji's creative activity were to understand the role of the composer as one of the founders of a new type of Chinese musical culture, based on introducing the principles of European music education, composition and performance, scientific thought. The posthumous fate of Huang Ji's musical legacy reflected both the tragedies and contradictions and the national revival of China. During the "Cultural Revolution" (1966 - 1976) the official attitude to the creative personality of Huang Ji changed under the influence of ideological prejudices: a genius composer, a pioneer in the field of new Chinese musical culture was considered a traitor to national interests. The time of the next turning point in the interpretation of the historical and artistic role of "Chinese Schubert" came in the 1990s, when the era of the renaissance of the composer's personality and work began – the second era of Huang Ji. The beginning of the renaissance of Huang Ji's creative personality and legacy was the posthumous publication of a complete collection of works by "Chinese Schubert", as a result of which the composer became a symbol not only of the 1930s but also of the national revival of the XX-XXI centuries.
