Essay

The research is devoted to a comprehensive study of the creative heritage of Polish composers of Podillia of the 19th century in the projection of the dialogue of two national cultures. Accordingly, the research is based on the historical, nationalmental and artistic-cultural features of the coexistence of the Polish and Ukrainian peoples on the territory of Podillia. The problem has not been the subject of investigation in musical science. Creativity of Polish composers of Podillia of the 19th century until now has not received proper musicological coverage, although it is a notable page in the history of Ukrainian music of the past, which determines the relevance of this topic. In the group of Polish composers of Podillia of the 19th century adherence to the Ukrainian national tradition, common aesthetic views and preferences, imitation of creative principles and methods are traced, and genre priorities are outlined. To reconstruct the panorama of the Ukrainian musical culture of Podillia of the 19th century. taking into account Ukrainian-Polish cultural relations the following issues has been considered: stages of development of Ukrainian-Polish relations in historical dynamics (XVI–XIX centuries); interest in Ukrainian folklore; formation of estate culture, home and salon performance; separate stages of the development of the theater in Podilla have been outlined; the emergence of artistic educational centers; ways of professionalizing music education and performance; development of the composer school and its representatives; the interest of Polish composers of Podillia in Ukrainian themes, plots and images.
